  • We declare that the First Amendment does not apply to political Islam.
  • We shall criticize our civilization, but never criticize political Islam.
  • We shall find fault with ourselves when political Islam commits violence.
  • We shall change our laws and customs in accordance with the wishes of political Islam.
  • We shall not study the Koran, the life of Mohammed (the Sira) or the Traditions of Mohammed (the Hadith).
  • We shall not teach the history of political Islam’s 150 million victims.
  • We shall not teach how Islam sold African slaves to the world and enslaved Europeans and Asians.
  • We shall only teach about the “Golden Age of Islam”.
  • We shall not criticize the payment of the jizyah (foreign aid) to Islamic countries.
  • We shall keep our gates wide open for Muslim immigrants.
  • Whoever criticizes a Muslim with deliberate intent shall be declared a bigot and attacked.

So drop the term political, and just say Islam. That's what it is about. We don't need to nitpick on this. Islam. Plain and simple. You know, The Religion of Peace™

"We shall only teach about the “Golden Age of Islam”."

Well, what about the "Golden Age" of Islam? The caliphate began with the slaughter of Jews and unbeliever Arabs and ended with the slaughter and enslavement of Jews, Christians, African animists, Christians, Zoroastrians and even a few Iberian Celts thrown in for good measure.

During said "Golden Age", the economic landscape resembled if anything pre-revolutionary France; assuming one was Muslim; if not, it resembled pre-revolutionary France with Soviet style taxation. The political landscape resembled 8th century Heptarchy sans common law, and the social landscape was something of an Orwellian free for all, if that isn't a contradiction in terms.

But, one might say, they gave us Arabic numerals, as if that cancels out the religious inquisition the Caliphate ran throughout the "Golden Age with varying degrees of severity. Well, actually Arabic numerals are Hindu numerals matched to Roman base ten and the only claim Islam has to them are the fact that an Arab wrote them down and someone translated them into Latin. Oh, and created "zero", as if the west wouldn't have stumbled upon the concept on its own.

In fact, most of the alleged "knowledge" the Golden Age of Islam produced came from Greece, Bysantium, Persia or India; the latter three after being sacked by this or that Caliphate adventurer.

Its frankly beyond me why anyone invented the term "Golden Age of Islam", unless it is used to denote several hundred years of lesser barbarism when juxtaposed against the greater barbarism Islam later became. If one wanted to posit a Golden Age, one would have better luck hosing down a few Vikings, teaching them table manners, and sending them out to copy Latin manuscripts.

What's this Arab mathematics crap about anyway. They stole the concept from India.

In India, mathematics has its roots in Vedic literature which is nearly 4000 years old. Between 1000 B.C. and 1000 A.D. various treatises on mathematics were authored by Indian mathematicians in which were set forth for the first time, the concept of zero, the techniques of algebra and algorithm, square root and cube root.

People don't "steal" culture and knowledge - it naturally propagates to those who are ready to accept it. Arab Muslim culture inherited earlier ideas from India, classical Greece and even China. Some early Arab thinkers did important original work in extending those ideas. That was a long time ago. The most remarkable thing about the "golden age" of Islamic thought is that it is almost universally banned or ignored in the modern Islamic world. Only "Crusaders and Zioinists" study the classical Islamic thinkers. See the cover story by Roger Scruton in the current (May 2006) American Spectator

Frightful the way things are going. But we should be bringing up the Pact of Umar, old or new, as it caused such agony in the world for so many years, and still does.

I must admit that I'm amused that with "the Religion of Peace", people have started to abbreviate to ROP, which I just take into the ROPERS. I rather like equating Jihadis with those folks on Three's Company.
